The meeting, New Directions in Probability Theory, will take place on August 5-6, 2005; it is co-sponsored by the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS) and the Institute for Mathematics and its Applications (IMA). The meeting immediately precedes the Joint Statistical Meetings of August 7-11 (co-sponsored by ASA, IMS, ENAR, WNAR). It will take place on Friday/Saturday and will be held at the IMA at the University of Minnesota.

The meeting consists of five sessions of invited lectures, a poster session of contributed papers, and four one-hour lectures, of which two are IMS Medallion Lectures. It is intended for a general probability audience interested in recent developments in probability theory. The topics of the sessions are Flows and Random Media; Probability, Combinatorics, and Statistical Mechanics; Stochastic Integration; Stochastic Partial Differential Equations; and Random Walk in Random Environment.

There will be no registration fee for the meeting. However, space is limited, and so early registration is recommended.
