Southern California Probability Symposium
This year's Southern California Probability Symposium will be
special in two ways. First, it will be held Sunday February 11,
2007, at USC, in place of its usual December date. Second, and more
important, it will be held in memory of Ted Harris, including a
special lunch event from 12:00 - 1:30. Speakers will include:
- David Aldous (U.C. Berkeley), "Probability and Spatial Networks"
- Peter Baxendale (USC), "Stirring processes and random sources for
stochastic flows"
- Tom Liggett (UCLA), "Correlation Inequalities and the Contact
Process: Ted Harris and Beyond"
- Nikolaos Zygouras (USC), "Lyapounov norms for random walks in a
random potential and dimension greater than three"
There will also be short non-technical presentations at the luncheon
about Ted's life and career.
We have not received many updates to the email list. Please
reply with additions--graduate students, former graduate students
with new addresses, postdocs, and new faculty who would not have been
on the list a year ago. Please forward this announcement to these
new additions to the list, in your department.
This year's organizers are Ken Alexander (alexandr@usc.edu), Richard
Arratia (rarratia@usc.edu), and Peter Baxendale (baxendal@usc.edu).
